Insight Day

Each year we complement our Choral Pilgrimage Tour with the opportunity to delve deeper into the rich history behind the repertoire.

In 2013 we focussed on the infamous Allegri Miserere and its evolution throughout history. The session took place in York on 29 June and was led by soprano and musicologist Sally Dunkley, Martin J Kemp, Emeritus Professor of the History of Art at Oxford University, and a consort of professional singers.

Martin shared his expertise on the history and visual art of the Sistine Chapel, complemented by Sally’s insights into the exciting musical tapestry of this year’s tour.

'The Insight Day was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, a skillful and meaningful communication, accessible to both expert and novice alike. Above all, it gave us a rich musical insight into the forthcoming concert.'
