FREE ENTRY

Young singers from The Sixteen's Genesis Sixteen training programme give a free end-of-course performance as part of the vocal celebrations for the Festival of Britain finale. The performance is conducted by Harry Christophers and Eamonn Dougan.

The Sixteen's exciting new scheme, Genesis Sixteen, is a training programme for young singers aged between 18 and 23. Thanks to the Genesis Foundation it will be the UK's first fully funded choral programme for young singers and is designed specifically to bridge the gap from student to professional practitioner. The first course begins at the end of August and there are a further three courses throughout the season. During the course the group will be working on a wide range of repertoire including works by English Renaissance masters through to Poulenc, Vaughan Williams, MacMillan and Britten; this performance includes a selection of this music.

This performance runs for approximately 45 minutes.
