Choral Workshops
'I learnt more in one day than I have learnt in years of singing in choirs" - James, London 2012
Our workshops offer keen choral singers the opportunity to delve deeper into some of the Choral Pilgrimage repertoire. Workshops are led by two prominent members of The Sixteen; associate conductor Eamonn Dougan and singer and musicologist Sally Dunkley.
Workshops are limited to 75 singers and offer a range of vocal coaching including warm ups, breathing techniques, stylistic advice, tuning and vocal blend. Also offered is an insight into the composer and the historical context of the pieces. Singers should be confident in holding their own line and have some experience of singing in a choir before.
This year the workshops will focus on the following music:
MacMillan - O radiant dawn
Palestrina - Improperium expectavit cor meum
Palestrina - Regina coeli Agnus Dei III
Miserere - excerpts from Allegri & MacMillan
Music is sent in advance and participants are encouraged to learn the notes beforehand so finer details can be explored.
