Guildhall Consort

QEH Concert March 2009
The Guildhall Consort is a young ensemble dedicated to giving articulate and historically well-informed performances of a range of repertoire. Comprising selected students from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the group was formed by the postgraduate Department of Historical Performance in collaboration with The Sixteen. They have quickly established themselves as an ensemble of excellence, challenging singers to achieve the highest level of chamber music awareness. The group is led by The Sixteen’s Associate Conductor and bass Eamonn Dougan, himself a former student at The Guildhall.
The ensemble has performed the music of Grieg, Hassler, Josquin , Monteverdi, Palestrina, Philips, Purcell, Rossi, Rubra, Schubert, Schumann, Schutz, Victoria and more. In addition to regular performances at the Guildhall School, Guildhall Consort has performed at St Martin in the Fields, St.Anne and St Agnes and in pre-concert events for The Sixteen at the Barbican Centre and South Bank Centre.
